couples therapy

People seek couples therapy for many reasons including wanting to improve communication, reduce conflict/arguments, to talk about sex, parenting or having children, or to decide whether or not to break-up or stay together. I provide a supportive environment and want both individuals to feel safe communicating about their relationship frustrations and their hopes for the relationship. This is a safe space to discuss current challenges and how to help the couple understand how they approach the challenges in their relationship. No two relationships are the same, and for me it is important to consider each individual’s history and experiences as part of couples therapy.

I utilize many parts of the Gottman Method, which includes “disarming conflicting verbal communication, increasing intimacy, respect, and affection, removing barriers that create a feeling of stagnancy in conflicting situations, and creating a heightened sense of empathy and understanding within the context of the relationship.”
